GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma , who is also the convener of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (Neda), on Friday said Manipur Congress leader N Biren Singh will join the saffron party on October 15.Once a trusted lieutenant of Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh , Biren resigned from Congress on Thursday. "Biren, along with Manipur BJP general secretary Biswajit Singh, met our national president Amit Shah in New Delhi last week. Our national leaderhsip has decided to induct Biren into BJP on October 15." He added that few more Congress leaders will also join BJP soon.Last month, veteran Congress leader Yumkham Erabot had joined BJP.A year ago, Sarma had revolted against Gogoi in Assam and joined BJP before the assembly election. There are about 12 to 13 constituencies bordering Assam in Manipur and our victory in Assam will have an influence in these constituencies of Manipur."
