After the monumental success of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, a biopic of the books’ creator, J.R.R. Tolkien’s life beyond his writing, on the other hand, was largely predictable and safe. Nicholas Hoult plays writer J.R.R. Tolkien in the biopic Tolkien. It’s become rather fashionable to mock Tolkien, largely because he is so popular and also read by people who don’t always buy literary prizewinners.
