A spokesperson from Dyson confirmed to Forbes that the entrepreneur “has responded” to the government’s request for support and will work toward “the design and manufacture” of a new much-needed ventilator. Hospital ventilators are best understood as mechanical breathing machines crucial to support the lives of critically ill patients suffering from COVID-19. This week the department made clear the specifics for the kind of medical ventilators it believes can be rapidly produced and rolled out across the country. One of the few British tech entrepreneurs to hit billionaire status, Dyson has an estimated net worth of $5.8 billion.
