Share TweetBy Mario CasayuranSenator Gregorio Honasan said Thursday he awaits the signing into law by President Duterte this Christmas season of a consolidated bill seeking a 300 percent increase in the monthly old-age pension of senior Filipino war veterans. Honasan, chairman of the Senate national defense committee, said the measure has been transmitted to Malacanang last Nov. 26 and is now just awaiting Duterte’s signature. He said the measure would be implemented early next year, providing the more than 6,000 Filipino World War II, Korean and Vietnamese war veterans a total of P20,000 monthly old-age pension, an increase of P15,000 in their previous P5,000 annuity. He added that the pension will not be transferable to any member of a senior war veteran’s family or dependents.
