That campaign was signalled when Trudeau gathered with his cabinet ministers for a retreat in Sherbrooke, Que. Scheer said the Conservatives are the “only serious alternative to Justin Trudeau Liberals,” a pointed attempt to elbow the New Democrats out of the picture.
