Bill Cosby arrives at court yesterday. Prosecutors opened the first day of a case against Mr Cosby, 79, who is accused of assaulting Andrea Constand, an acquaintance more than three decades his junior, by attempting to show that he displayed a pattern of abuse towards women. The first witness to be called was Kelly Johnson, 55, who alleged that Mr Cosby had assaulted her.
