MANILA, Philippines – The deaths of inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) has reached its critical level, its hospital chief Dr. Henry Fabro said Wednesday. Only 4 doctorsFabro said at the NBP alone, they only have four doctors working on four shifts and 36-40 nurses assisting 27,821 Bilibid inmates. The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) that operates seven correctional facilities including Bilibid has a total population of 47,326 PDL’s or inmates. Fabro said including the four doctors at Bilibid, “we only have 13 medical staff nationwide.”“Imagine the PDLs we are handling,” he said.
