Two mountain bikers were airlifted to hospital by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter on Sunday. Two people have been airlifted from mountainbike trails in separate incidents in the top of the South Island, during a busy 24 hours for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter. A 12-year-old boy was winched out of the Wither Hills area south of Blenheim at 10:20am on Sunday with a leg injury after falling off a mountainbike, rescue helicopter pilot Barry McAuliffe said. A 44-year-old man was airlifted to Nelson Hospital with a leg injury from the Involution Trail mountainbike track in Marsden Valley, south of Nelson, just after 4pm on Sunday.
