Bike race brings in new biosecurity measuresErin Tasker/Fairfax NZ Riders hit the road in the Mt Somers Mountain Bike Race, organised by the Mayfield and Districts Lions Club, last year. New biosecurity measures have been brought in by the organisers of this year's Mt Somers Mountain Bike Race to help prevent the spread of didymo and Mycoplasma Bovis. The race is one of the Mayfield Lions Club's biggest fundraisers and takes riders through the picturesque Mt Somers Station. The Mt Somers Mountain Bike Race has been running for 13 years, and has raised more than $190,000 in that time. Races start from 10.30am.
