Schools and their boards will no longer have control over who they enrol as part of a new overhaul of the education system. The Government is undertaking the biggest overhaul of the education system in 30 years, dramatically reducing the amount of independent power schools have to govern. The reforms come after a major review of the Tomorrow's Schools system, which massively devolved power to school communities in the late 1980s. "We were very concerned that the hub proposal would have marginalised parental involvement in our education system," Kaye said. "Unfortunately some of the changes proposed by the Taskforce including school zoning and school property management will marginalise parents and school boards and further reduce parental choice in education."
