Big-name injuries leave Australian Open wide open

Big-name injuries leave Australian Open wide openGETTY IMAGES Novak Djokovic is in doubt for the Australian Open due to an elbow injury. As injuries continue to mount ahead of the Australian Open, the chance of a new men's champion being crowned at Melbourne Park grows stronger by the day. Of the men's 'big four', only Roger Federer has confirmed his attendance for Melbourne with world No 1 Rafael Nadal and six-time Aussie Open champion Novak Djokovic's also hampered by injury. Since 2004, only two players outside Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray have won the Australian Open - Marat Safin (2005) and Stan Wawrinka (2014). But the upcoming tournament is certainly as the most wide open it has been for some time.
