KPMG’s second Autonomous Vehicles Readiness Index was published on Monday and it rates the Netherlands as the country most ready for the adoption of driverless cars. And that’s why another new KPMG report on AVs – The Rise of Electric, Shared and Autonomous Fleets – doesn’t mention cyclists. No matter how clever the technological interface between autonomous vehicles and people, space will need to be dedicated away from motor vehicles. Unless, of course, laws are enacted to prevent cyclists and pedestrians from deliberately impeding driverless cars. KPMG’s Autonomous Vehicles Readiness Index was authored by the firm’s global head of infrastructure Richard Threlfall, a former private secretary to the U.K. transport secretary.
