After consulting her GP and undergoing tests, she was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer that had metastasized to all eight segments of her liver. Perea received 37 cycles of targeted drug therapy with panitumumab and chemotherapy over two and a half years. Her excellent response to these treatments led to the successful removal of her bowel tumor in May 2023. However, persistent liver tumors necessitated the consideration of a liver transplant.In February 2024, Ms. Perea was added to the transplant list. A suitable donor was found, and she received the liver transplant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
