The Thai and Bhutanese Royal families are close. King Jigme visited Bangkok last year a few days after King Bhumibol passed away to pay his last respects to the late King. The Bhutan Monarch also organised special prayers held in Bhutan in honour of the late Thai King and on the same day as the Royal Cremation ceremony. King Jigme’s Facebook page said King Bhumibol of Thailand is revered as a visionary King not just in Thailand but all over the world. “In view of our shared spiritual heritage and excellent relations between the two Kingdoms, His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen will travel to Thailand today to pay last respects to His late Majesty King Bhumibol and attend the Royal Cremation.
