DLF 2019Author of more than a dozen books, Mashiul Alam has carved a reputation in Bangladeshi literature with his fiction and translations. During his academic years in the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow, he developed a keen interest in Russian, which later inspired him to translate original Russian texts into Bangla. Published in 1994, his debut short story collection Rupali Rui o Onnanno Golpo was well received. His 1999 debut novel Ami Shudhu Meyetike Bachate Cheyechi was later adapted into a TV series titled Palayanparba. The eponymous story from the anthology was later translated into English by Shabnam Nadiya.
