KUALA LUMPUR (March 14): Better salary or benefit packages is the main reason to switch jobs in 2017, while work-life balance is the number one reason employees in Malaysia will remain with their current employer, according to the 2017 Hays Asia Salary Guide. “This year's Guide tells very different stories about why employees in Malaysia leave a job and why they stay,” said Tom Osborne, Regional Director of Hays Malaysia. Meanwhile, on a country level, salary or benefits package is the main reason the job seekers are looking to switch jobs in Hong Kong, mainland China and Singapore, whilst in Japan, a desire to seek new challenges is the main reason job seekers are currently seeking switch of jobs. In terms of work-life balance, it was nominated by candidates in Hong Kong and Singapore as the main reason as to why they wish to stay with their current employer. In Japan, career progression is the key retention motivator, with mainland China respondents choosing job security.
