Alpha stocks are those that deliver higher returns relative to a broader market benchmark. Shares of SRF have been trading at Rs 1,900-odd level compared with Rs 170 it quoted in 2013. High-beta stocks deliver better returns in a bullish market, but tend to fall sharply in a market selloff.
