Saturday night following media days at the Los Angeles Auto Show, my attorney and I were hosted by Bentley at a tailgate party for the USC-UCLA game. After the excellent halftime performance of the UCLA band, we opted to avoid 90 minutes in stadium traffic by staying to the bitter end, and saddled up our Bentayga. Rain-swept streets of Old Town Pasadena the next day offered a first chance to drive Bentayga on familiar turf, not on mountain roads or dirt trails curated by Bentley. Monumental in proportion, Bentayga grows smaller and more wieldy with every mile. Having attended a Southern football school, I kept thinking how much fun it would be to tailgate at Sanford Stadium for a game “between the hedges” with the Georgia Bulldogs.
