ASU (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) awaits a bowl destination, while Arizona (4-8, 2-7) ends the season on a seven-game slide and out of the postseason for the second year in a row. Arizona State trailed 7-6 at halftime but came back out and marched 75 yards on 11 plays — all runs — capped by Benjamin’s 6-yard rush at the 9:30 mark. Benjamin, a junior who went over 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season, scored on a 1-yard run with 1:20 left in the third quarter, followed by a two-point conversion for a 21-7 lead. Benjamin’s second score came after Arizona State picked off Tate for the third time, this one coming when linebacker Merlin Robertson grabbed a deflected pass, returning it to the Arizona 49. The Sun Devils marched 69 yards and settled for a last-play 24-yard field goal and a 7-6 deficit.
