The Benin Traditional Council has announced that a Queen may face removal from the palace after allowing social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, to gain “unauthorised access” to the Oba of Benin’s palace. Peller, who is currently on a nationwide tour, visited the palace on March 6, where he was attended to by some palace officials. The Council described the visit as a serious breach of protocol and a desecration of the sacred precincts of the palace. The statement said Peller has also been invited to appear before a committee of chiefs to present his side of the story. “The Benin Traditional Council remains the unwavering custodian of our age-old customs and traditions,” the statement said.
