Bengaluru: Private clinics, hospitals shut to oppose law that could fix prices


The state high court stepped into the row as 6,000 private medical establishments — barring emergency services — were closed. The court requested the doctors to end the strike, asking the government and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to find a solution. Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association called off the shutdown of OPDs as a result of the court’s request. The bone of contention is the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2017, which has not yet been tabled in the ongoing Assembly session. “Patients’ rights should be the same whether it is private or government hospitals,” he said.
