Beluga whales adopt lost narwhal in St. Lawrence River


An unusual visitor has been hanging out in the St. Lawrence River for the past three years: A narwhal, more than 1,000 kilometres south of its usual range. The narwhal was first spotted among the belugas of the St. Lawrence in 2016. (GREMM)Michaud said it's not unusual for young whales to wander into strange habitats. Young belugas, for example, have wandered as far as New Jersey and Nova Scotia. Young whales are known to wander.
