Because so few voters knew Buttigieg, the campaign’s leaders invested in research about how the Democratic Party was feeling about politics and the country. Her rivals Biden, Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) accused her of acting like a typical politician and not being direct with voters. But the state party was unable to collate the results.
