Beat the winter blues

Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education has 1,500 ways for you to beat the winter blues thanks to its wide range of continuing education opportunities. “It’s especially challenging in the winter to be motivated and inspired so taking a course is an excellent way to stay stimulated during those long, cold months,” says the Chang School’s dean, Marie Bountrogianni. “It’s also a great time to be productive in order to free up your summer.”Among the Chang School’s 1,500 courses, seminars and workshops are 78 certificate programs, 57 course series (consisting of three courses or less), 26 certificates that can be completed entirely at a distance and courses towards 13 part-time degree programs. “Our certificate programs are all market driven, which makes them very relevant, and 80 per cent of our courses are university credits so if someone wants to transfer to a degree, they most likely can,” Bountrogianni says. “Students also have flexibility in terms of how they complete their courses, with many choosing a combination of in-person and online delivery.”New to the Chang School’s offerings are certificates in non-profit and voluntary sector management, which Bountrogianni says is vital with Canada’s aging population, and privacy, access and information management.
