Be patient over UNHCR database delisting, Garissa leaders told

The removal of names of Garissa residents from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees database is at an advanced stage, a top state official has said. Northeastern regional commissioner Nicodemus Ndalana urged Garissa leaders to be patient following concerns that the delisting process had dragged. Ndalana told the leaders that the delisting was on course and “soon there will be some positive news”. In November 2019, the government launched a month-long exercise to delist Kenyans from the UNCHR database. The drive was launched in the presence of several local leaders among them Garissa Governor Ali Korane.
