The draw, coupled with Bayern’s last-minute 2-1 win at Cologne, meant Dortmund gave away their best chance in a decade of winning the title. On each occasion, Dortmund dropped points in the next match, allowing Bayern to return to the summit — as they did on Saturday to claim the title. Dortmund entered the winter break nine points behind Bayern, having lost six times in their opening 15 matches.
