A dance troupe of senior community members in California’s Bay Area have kicked off their Lunar New Year celebrations with a rap song, NPR reports. The song is called That Lunar Cheer and is a collaboration between rapper Jason Chu and a dance troupe of elderly Asian women called the Grant Avenue Follies. In 2021, they created their first rap song in response to the rise in anti-Asian hate. Their latest song, created in partnership with AARP, describes different Lunar New Year traditions to its listeners. Please report any typos or errors to info at AsAmNews dot com.
