Already, city legislators have aligned themselves in camps, with the majority leaning either towards Deputy President William Ruto or former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. In the August 2017 elections, Jubilee Party had the majority of elected MPs in Nairobi, followed by the Orange Democratic Movement party. Jubilee had won in 9 sub counties; Starehe, Embakasi West, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Langata, Dagoretti South, Kasarani, Roysambu and Kamukunji. Some Jubilee MPs joined forces with ODM, which still has an impact o the current alignments. Both camps are scheming to outdo each other in the battle to control Nairobi politics ahead of the August 2022 polls.
