Bato in Malaysia for ASEANAPOL summitDirector General Ronald dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), is in Malaysia for a four-day conference with his counterparts in Southeast Asia to discuss transnational crimes that include illegal drugs smuggling. Dela Rosa leads the 15-man delegation of the Philippine National Police (PNP) which will present before the 36th Association of Southeast Asia Nations Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL) the current situation of transnational crimes in the country. Among that would be discussed in the ASEANAPOL, according to dela Rosa, are the discussions on international cooperation and law enforcement best practices on curbing drug trafficking, commercial crimes, bank fraud, cybercrime, and trafficking in persons. “We are honored to take an active part in the efforts of the international law enforcement community in maintaining an atmosphere of peace and stability in the region,” said dela Rosa before leaving the country yesterday. The 10-member ASEANAPOL is composed of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Cambodian National Police, Indonesian National Police, Lao People’s Democratic Republic General Department of Police, Myanmar Police Force, Philippine National Police, Singapore Police Force, Royal Thai Police, Socialist Republic of Vietnam Police, and this year’s host agency, the Royal Malaysia Police.
