more-inA Delhi court on Tuesday dropped cheating charges against the caretaker of the flat where two suspected militants were killed in an encounter with the Delhi Police at Batla House in south-east Delhi in 2008. ‘Forging’ lease deedThe encounter had taken place when a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell raided flat no 108 at L-18 in the Batla House area of Jamia Nagar on September 19, 2008, after reportedly getting a tip off that suspected Indian Mujaheedin members, responsible for the 2008 Delhi serial blasts, were hiding there. Inspector M.C. Sharma, who headed the operation, was killed in the encounter along with two suspected terrorists — Atif Ahmed and Mohammad Sajjid. Flat owner Mohsin Nissar had accused Rehman of forging his signature in the lease deed while renting out the flat to the two suspected terrorists.
