DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte was sworn in as the new president of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) here on Saturday, replacing his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is detained at the International Criminal Court detention facility in The Hague. The youngest son of the former president took his oath before Al Cusi, vice chairman of PDP-Laban. The political party is expected to back the candidacy of Vice President Sara Duterte for president in the 2028 national elections.
