The league leaders beat defending champions Dhaka Abahani by a solitary goal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium thanks to an outstanding free kick of Bakhtiyar Duyshobekov. After getting a free kick Kyrgyz defender Duyshobekov made an inch perfect shot to beat Abahani’s goalkeeper Shahidul Alam Sohel in the far post. Shahidul could however save another free kick taken by Brazilian Marcos Vinicius, minutes later. Alamgir Kabir Rana wasted an opportunity by taking a wayward shot eight minutes later after Sunday’s shot was deflected off Zico. And that perhaps illustrated the fate of the Dhaka giant not only in the match but also, perhaps for the league.
