Libya's Interior Minister, Fathi Bashagha, signed on Wednesday, in Paris, a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the ministry and a French security institution. Bashagha also held discussions with security officials specialized in biometric identification for security and civil purposes to seek opportunities for bilateral partnerships. It is also designed to enhance cooperation between the people and the security services, according to the media office of the Interior Ministry. The ministry had disclosed earlier today that Bashagha’s visit to Paris came at the invitation of the French authorities to hold discussions with security and political leaders, as well as companies specialized in the security field. It further indicated that the visit comes to enhance cooperation at the security level between the two countries, especially in the areas of combating terrorism and organized crime, in addition to creating a framework for stronger cooperation on specialized training concerning security work.
