Listening to Mitchell Godkin talk about baseball bats is almost like listening to a winemaker talk about grapes. Godkin is the founder of Leadbury Bat Co., a bat company based out of Walton, Ont., a hamlet in Southwestern Ontario about a half hour east of Goderich. "The tricky thing about making a bat is making a consistent bat with an inconsistent material." By doing that, he's managed to get Leadbury, Canada's newest bat company, into Labatt Park, the world's oldest ball park. Despite all the work he puts into his bats, Godkin says he plans to finish school first, before he can dedicate himself to the business full-time.
