NEC Nijmegen star Bas Dost collapsed on the pitch during the closing stages of his side's Eredivisie match with AZ Alkmaar on Sunday. Nijmegen said on social media: "Bas Dost is conscious and is taken off the field. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), AZ also gave a positive update: "Bas Dost is fortunately conscious. Dost later provided an update of his own to confirm that he was recovering well in hospital, saying: "I'm doing well. After the referee was alerted to the incident he stopped the game, which was then suspended, as all attention and thoughts were focused on Dost.
