Over 11 restaurants at NFC were affected by the ban as the market is located on Mathura Road (National Highway-2). The restaurants have still not started serving liquor but hope that by next month, the paperwork will be complete and they will be back in business. Popular pubs in the area are planning to offer promotional discounts, and launch a line-up of special events to bring the cheer back. In its order on August 23, the Supreme Court had clarified that the ban on liquor sale near highways does not prohibit licensed establishments within municipal areas from serving alcohol.
