Taipei, July 14 (CNA) Barry Lam (林百里), chairman of Quanta Computer Inc., one of the world's largest manufacturers of notebook computers and other electronics, has been named the richest person in Taiwan, as the artificial intelligence trend continues booming and boosting the value of his company, Forbes magazine said. Under the Forbes real-time billionaires list, Lam's net worth was listed at US$9.3 billion as of 1 p.m. Friday, securing him the top spot in Taiwan and the 226th worldwide. Currently, Quanta's paid-in capital is NT$38.63 billion, according to the Taiwan Stock Exchange, where the company launched an initial public offering in 1999. Lam said despite already being 74 years old, he has remained healthy and plans to dedicate himself to AI development until his planned retirement at 80.
