Barriga, who started boxing when he was five, is undefeated in nine fights one of which by way of knockout. “I’m dedicating this fight to my family since they are the reason why I pursued this sport.”Licona, 23, under the tutelage of lightweight champion Mikey Garcia, boasts of an unbeaten 13-0 record. Barriga’s last win was against Colombian Gabriel Mendoza in May via unanimous decision at the SM Skydome in SM North Edsa.
