BARRIE—A 14-year-old boy charged with first-degree murder will remain in custody following a court appearance Feb. 22. Emergency crews were called to a Penvill Trail home at about 6 a.m. Feb. 19 following a violent confrontation between two boys. A 15-year-old boy was found in the home with life-threatening injuries and taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was done on the victim Feb. 21 during which the cause of death was determined but Barrie police spokesperson Peter Leon refused to reveal the cause.
