The man was injured at about 8.20am in Barnsley town centre as police received numerous calls about a woman armed with a knife. Local residents said the town centre was "on lockdown" and shoppers were hiding in stores while the woman allegedly tried to stab people outside. He added: "This doesn't happen in Barnsley town centre. A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 8.20am this morning following reports that a man had been stabbed in Barnsley town centre. "Police then received numerous further reports of an individual in the town centre with a knife.
