Barcelona's victory sent bottom-of-the-table Espanyol to the second division for the first time in 27 years. Luis Suarez scored the winning goal for Barcelona at the second half, which witnessed two red cards for Barcelona's Ansu Fati and Espanyol's Pol Lozano. Barcelona manager Quique Setién admitted that his side suffered during the game and found it difficult to to break the opponent's defence. Barcelona are one point behind the league leaders Real Madrid, who will take on Deportivo Alaves on Friday night at Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium in Madrid. Setién added "We'll have to wait and see what Real Madrid do,"Real Madrid needs eight points from the next four games to secure the league title.
