The Catalan club signed Frenchman Dembele to replace Brazilian Neymar when he was sold to PSG in 2017. Neymar cost a world-record £200 million fee when he made the switch, which the club reinvested an initial £96 million of to snap up Dembele. Speaking to ESPN , Bartomeu said: "Dembele is, for me, better than Neymar. Meanwhile whilst Neymar has performed well at PSG, his time with the French club has been dogged by injuries, and rumours of a return to Spain. However Bartomeu was coy when asked whether it was likely that Neymar could be back in a Barcelona shirt before long.
