LUCENA CITY – A barangay chairman was shot dead in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Thursday, police said Friday. Ricardo de Chavez, 52, was driving his motorcycle back home in Barangay Mangilag Norte when unidentified assailants armed with handguns shot him several times from behind at 5:20 p.m.ADVERTISEMENTDe Chavez suffered fatal bullet wounds in different parts of the body and died on the spot. Investigators recovered three empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol and 12 cartridge cases from caliber 9mm from the crime scene. Police are investigating the murder. Delfin T.
