In a news conference at the APEC summit in the Peruvian capital, US president Barack Obama says he wants to be respectful of the office and give US president-elect Donald Trump the opportunity to put forward his platform and his arguments ‘without somebody popping off ‘ at every instance. But Obama added that he would consider whether or not he needed to defend the ‘values or ideals’ that he cared about as an American citizen.
