The central bank has asked all commercial banks to ensure smooth operations of their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and round-the-clock adequate money in the ATM booths during the holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr. The banks have also been asked to ensure uninterrupted operation of Mobile Financial Services (OMS), Point of Sale (POS) system and e-payment services to facilitate the smooth withdrawal of money by clients during the Eid holidays. In a circular issued on Tuesday, Bangladesh Bank made the directives to the chief executive officers of the banks. In another circular, which was also issued the same day, the central bank asked the authorised dealer (AD) branches of all the commercial banks located in airports, seaports and land ports to remain open next Friday for half a day and Saturday for the full day. Moreover, the AD branches located at customs house and customs station areas have been asked to remain open next Friday, Saturday and Sunday with an aim to help ensure smooth export-import oriented businesses, it added.
