Banks along Timaru’s Stafford St have opened cautiously as some life begins to return to the CBD. “We’ve just opened a few branches around the country to see how much they are utilised,” BNZ spokesperson Sam Durbin said. BNZ opened 30 branches on Tuesday with, besides Timaru, the only others in the South Island being Alexandra, Ashburton, Greymouth, Nelson, Papanui, Riccarton and Wanaka. On its website SBS Bank said branches would be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.
