In several places, guards posted outside shut ATMs said they were open in the morning till union members intervened. "Wasn't the bank strike for two days enough? A member of the officers' union of a public sector bank said outsourced ATM staff were also part of the strike. Rajen Nagar, the president of the All India Bank Employees' Association, called the first day of the strike "98 per cent" successful.
