Bank of Ireland invests €50m in fraud prevention


The bank said the money will be directed towards technology, consumer awareness and customer support in order to counter efforts to perpetrate fraud on customers. Bank of Ireland said it now has more than 225 staff dedicated to fighting fraud and financial crime. “The vast majority of us have received texts, emails, or calls from fraudsters,” said Bank of Ireland group chief executive Myles O’Grady. Nicola Sadlier, head of fraud at Bank of Ireland, urged consumers to treat every unsolicited call, text or email as a potential fraud attempt. “We see more and more fraud attacks starting from social media and tech platforms,” she said.
