Zakir Khan, who was a well-known figure among the Bangladesh community, was attacked on Wednesday in front of his home at the Bronx. The 44-year-old, who was found with multiple stab wounds, was rushed to the Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Local media reported that police have detained the 51-year-old landlord and said that dispute over rent is suspected to be the motive behind the murder. Those close to him told bdnews24.com that he had been a tenant of the Egyptian landlord for a long time. The landlord, however, alleges that Khan was not paying the rent for several months as he wanted to buy the apartment, they said.
