Bangladeshi-British schoolgirl who joined IS 'wants to return to UK’

In an interview with the Times, Bangladeshi-British teenager Shamima Begum talked about seeing "beheaded heads" in bins, but said it "did not faze her." Speaking from a refugee camp in Syria, the 19-year-old teenage said she was nine months pregnant and wanted to return to the UK for her baby. In 2015, three London schoolgirls—of which two were Bangladeshi-British—flew to Turkey first, and then went to Syria to join the Islamic State terrorist group. Speaking of friends, Shamima said one of her two school friends that had left the UK with her had died in a bombing. Islamic State has lost control of most of the territory it overran, including its strongholds of Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria.
